چکیده

This paper proposes a prioritized real-time admission control algorithm to support soft handoff calls with QoS assurance in both uplink and downlink signal to interference ratio (SIR) requirement. Admission control is formulated as a performance optimization model, in which the objective is to minimize handoff forced termination probability. The algorithm is based upon dynamic reserved channels (guard channels) scheme for prioritized calls, it adapts to changes in handoff traffics where associated parameters (guard channels, new and handoff call arrival rates) can be varied. To solving the optimization model, iteration-based Lagrangian relaxation approach is applied by allocating a time budget. We analyze the system performance, and computational experiments indicate that proposed dynamic guard channel approach outperforms other schemes.

Adaptive Supporting Prioritized Soft Handoff Calls for Power-Controlled DS-CDMA Cellular Networks

We present feedback control techniques to intelligently support priorities of soft handoff calls during call admission control (CAC) in power-controlled DS-CDMA multicellular networks. We design a classic proportional controller to dynamically solve resource management problems, which arise during run-time adaptation, via continuously monitoring real-time system performance to adjust system par...

Admission control scheme for soft handoff in DS-CDMA cellular systems supporting voice and stream-type data services

The soft handoff call requests of real-time services in third-generation (3G) direct-sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) and firstand second-generation cellular systems are more important than new call requests from the viewpoint of quality of service (QoS). Rejection of soft handoff requests causes forced termination of an ongoing real-time call, which is a severer problem than bl...

Adaptive channel reservation for call admission control to support prioritized soft handoff calls in a cellular CDMA system

This paper proposes a prioritized call admission control (CAC) model to support soft handoff calls with quality of service (QoS) assurances for both the uplink and downlink connections in a CDMA system. CAC is formulated as a combinatorial optimization problem in which the problem objective is to minimize the handoff forced termination rate. The model, which is based on the adaptive channel res...

Call Admission Policies Based on Calculated Power Control Setpoints in SIR-Based Power-Controlled DS-CDMA Cellular Networks

In this paper, we develop call admission control algorithms for SIR-based power-controlled DS-CDMA cellular networks. We consider networks that handle both voice and data services. When a new call (or a handoff call) arrives at a base station requesting for admission, our algorithms will calculate the desired power control setpoints for the new call and all existing calls. We will provide neces...

A Soft Computing based Adaptive Call Admission Control Scheme for Bi-class Traffic in CDMA Cellular Network

Soft handoff in CDMA cellular system increases system capacity as compared to hard handoff as interference is reduced by transmitting signals as lower power level. A CDMA cellular system involving voice and data calls is considered in this paper. The model proposed in this paper is for data and voice services (Bi-class). It is based on reservation for handoff voice and data calls along with cal...
